INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Feb. 18, 2015)– New York Fashion Week just wrapped up – and Hoosier was a part of it!

“Fashion Week is insane. It is the coolest thing I`ve ever done,” said Erin Milosevich.

Erin Milosevich graduated from Carmel High School in 2002.  After graduating with her B.F.A. in fashion design in 2006, Milosevich returned to live in Indianapolis. She worked at White House | Black Market while caring for her grandmother who had been diagnosed with Alzheimers.

Erin Milosevich then went to San Francisco to study fashion at the graduate level. Milosevich is a graduate student at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Milosevich graduates in May.

“Getting there and getting back stage is exactly like you think it is going to be, the models, the hairs dressers, the make up artists. Everyone is really cool,” said Milosevich.

On Feb. 14, Milosevich and 14 other students from the school debuted their thesis collections at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.

“We watched on a screen back stage and I was sobbing when the designs were going down the runway,” said Erin Milosevich.

Milosevich’s looks for the show were all skirts and dresses.

“I was doing really hyper girly crinolines which is not something you normally do. I did all the dresses out of wool,” said Milosevich.

The Carmel graduate encourages Hoosiers interested in runway to start researching.

“It is important to read all kinds of fashion magazines. You should know who the players are.  You have to be very passionate about it. It is live and breathe!,” said Erin Milosevich.

Milosevich’s family attended the show in New York for Fashion Week.
