INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Aug. 25, 2015) – It was an awesome night for a tough workout! Residents in Fishers got the chance to train like firefighters Tuesday evening.

Life Time Fitness trainers and the Fishers Fire Department invited the public to train like firefighters by pulling hoses, dragging dummies and hitting the Kaiser sled.

“Gives a chance for public to get an inside look at the work we do,” said Capt. John Mehling with the Fishers Fire Department.

It’s a workout participant Sue Thompson’s never done before but an experience she’s grateful she had.

“The hoses are pretty darn heavy. The fact that they can carry them all by themselves is pretty amazing. I have a whole new perceptive about what they are doing to fight fires,” explained Thompson.

The workout doesn’t make these hardworking citizens quite ready to fight a fire, but it did give them the chance to better understand just how much preparation our men and women in uniform need to keep our community safe.

“It’s an opportunity to show fitness is not only important in our lives but in everyone`s daily lives,” said Captain John Mehling with the Fishers Fire Department.

The Fishers Fire Department is working on a future date to plan another firefighter workout event.
