BROAD RIPPLE, Ind. (July 22, 2014)– The racy, sexy images promote two of Broad Ripple’s most popular night clubs, but is it the image Broad Ripple wants out there?

“We can’t stop it. It’s a first amendment right. We are just asking for better judgement,” said Gary Coons, chief of Indiana Department of Homeland Security.

Lately, there’s been trouble on popular on strip. Seven people were shot in Broad Ripple during Fourth of July weekend.

“Dope video for a Dope party. That draws in that type of crowd. That is an illegal activity,” said Coons.

Coons says videos and photos posted by promoters and DJs bring trouble to the neighborhood.

“What kind of crowd are you trying to bring in to this environment when you show that type of images? Is it really a crowd wanting to spend time with friends or are you trying to sell sex and those kind of things,” said Coons.

FOX59 reached out to the owner of LandSharks, Mark Casey. He did not want to talk to the media.

After learning about the FOX59 investigation, Casey called back and said he cut all ties with both the promoter and DJ working for him.

Broad Ripple Village Association President Justin Mckeand said he’s glad to see business owners taking more responsibility for Broad Ripple’s image.

“If you want a neighorboohd treated with respect – it has to look respectful,” said Mckeand.

DJ Cash works at both LandSharks and NYX.

“I don’t see a problem with the ads. I am not promoting to kids, only adults,” he said. “I have been DJing in Broad Ripple for two years and not had an issue.”

FOX59 also reached out to the owners of NYX Nightclub. They have not returned our calls or emails.
