Officials have identified remains as those of a missing Sullivan County man.

Shane Porter, 36, was found in the Wabash River near Patton, Ill., earlier this month. His death has been ruled as drowning, pending toxicology results.

Police began searching for Porter after he failed to show up at his job in Vincennes back in February.  On the evening of Feb. 8, a witness reported seeing a man swimming in the Wabash River on the south edge of Vincennes.

Porter’s car was found abandoned on Feb. 10 in a public parking area near Memorial Bridge.

Officials are continuing to investigate Porter’s death.
