Man dies after being struck by truck on Indy’s south side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A man has died after being hit by a truck Saturday night on the south side of Indianapolis, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to the intersection of Madison Avenue and East Thompson Road.

Police say it appears the man ran across the street and was struck by the truck.

EMS personnel responded to the scene and took the man to a nearby hospital, where despite the best life-saving measures, the man was pronounced dead a short time later.

The driver of the pick-up truck remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

Police are still in the early stages of their investigation but said alcohol was not a factor in the accident. Investigators are working to gather more information.
