Woman dead after house fire in Greenfield

GREENFIELD, Ind.– Officials say one person died Wednesday morning in a house fire in Greenfield.

Crews were called to the scene in the 2100 block of Anita Lane, near North 200 West around 10:30 a.m.

There was heavy smoke coming from the home upon arrival, and it took crews a while to get the fire under control.

Police confirmed a woman was found dead at the residence, but they could not provide any information about the victim. They will release her name when next of kin has been notified.

A fire marshal is investigating the official cause of the fire.
