One dead, others injured after being trapped in burning westside house

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., (November 24, 2013) — One person is dead and two others in serious condition, after being trapped in a burning house early Sunday morning.

IFD crews responded to the home in the 2300 block of Groff Avenue shortly after 4 a.m. That’s near the IMS Speedway.

Firefighters rescued two men, as smoke billowed from the house. They were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, while crews continued searching for a third occupant. She was found moments later, dead. Officials have not yet released the deceased’s name, but she is a 40-year-old woman.

One other person suffered slight burns to the face but is expected to be okay.

Investigators believe a grease fire started the blaze.
