UPDATE: Coroner releases identify of teen killed when a gun accidentally discharged

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- IMPD detectives say they are looking into possibility that an overnight shooting that left a teenager dead may have been accidental.

Shortly after 12:30 a.m., officers responded to the 8400 block of Wildwood Farms Drive and found a 18-year-old teen shot outside of a home. He was taken to Eskenazi Hospital, where he later died. he was later identified as Aaron Martin.

Police said the teens were manipulating a firearm when it discharged accidentally, striking and killing Martin. The shooter in this case is cooperating with authorities, however, there has not been an arrest at this time.

The MCPO will make a decision on whether charges will be filed or not upon completion of the investigation.
