One person dies in car fire

UPDATE:  Indiana State Police say a one vehicle crash claimed the life of the driver on the city’s east side.

Around 3:40 a.m. State Police were sent to Interstate 70 near Sherman Drive on a report of a single vehicle crash.

Witnesses told police a 2000 Pontiac was westbound on I-70 and for an unknown reason went off the roadway, down an embankment and burst into flames.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marion County Coroner’s Office.

The name of the deceased driver has not been released pending positive identification and  family notification.

 

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 12, 2015) – Indiana State Police say that one person is dead following an early morning car fire.

ISP were dispatched to a car slide off on I-70 near Emerson Ave. just after 4:00 a.m.

When they arrived on the scene they found the car fully engulfed in flames.

Police believe the weather conditions played a part in the car losing control.
