24-year-old killed on Indy’s west side; arrest made


INDIANAPOLIS – A deadly shooting claimed the life of a 24-year-old on Indy’s west side.

On Saturday, July 31, officers were called to the 5900 block of Coquina Key Drive just before 5 a.m. in response to a reported shooting.

When they arrived, police found an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound lying in the parking lot of an apartment building. He was taken to Eskenazi in critical condition, but passed away shortly after.

Police later identified the victim as 24-year-old Kane Baca.

A suspect was later arrested in connection with the shooting. Corey Mirabal, 23, was taken into custody by IMPD and preliminarily charged with murder.
