INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 21, 2016)– Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are looking for two vehicles involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident late Monday night.

Police were called to the intersection of West 86th Street and Township Line Road on the report of a person struck by a vehicle.

When they arrived on scene, officers say they found a woman suffering from serious injuries after being hit by a minivan while trying to cross the street.

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Shana Elliott. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police officials, the driver of the minivan immediately stopped the vehicle, called 911 and remained at the accident scene to speak with investigators.

Police say after Elliott was hit by the minivan, she was struck by at least one other vehicle. No other vehicles stopped at the scene.

According to witnesses, one of the fleeing vehicles as an older brown work van, with a ladder on the back.
