Pedestrian killed after hit-run crash in Beech Grove

BEECH GROVE, Ind.— The pedestrian critically injured following a hit-and-run accident late Sunday night has succumbed to his injuries Monday.

The accident happened near the intersection of S. Emerson Ave. and E. Hornet Ave. in Beech Grove, Ind. around 11:10 p.m.

Police said the man, identified as 33-year-old Ronald Van Atta, was driving with his fiancée, when for unknown reasons, Van Atta exited the truck and was struck by a passing vehicle. That vehicle did not stop at the scene.

The vehicle was described to be a dark Taurus or Sable wagon with a plastic cover over the rear passenger window.
