INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — IMPD officers are investigating after a person was shot and killed on the city’s east side Sunday morning.

Officers were dispatched to an accident at around 8 a.m. to a reported accident where a vehicle ran off the road and crashed. When they arrived, they found an unresponsive man in the driver’s seat who was suffering from a gunshot wound.

Emergency personnel declared the 22-year-old victim as dead on scene.

IMPD closed off part of N. Post Rd. near the intersection of E. Washington as they investigated the incident. The Marion County Coroner’s Office is assisting in identifying cause of death. No additional information about where or how the man was shot was readily available Sunday morning.
