INDIANAPOLIS — A man has died after being shot on the far east side of Indianapolis, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday, police were called to the 3700 block of Rinehall Drive.

Officers arrived to find a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to Eskenazi Hospital for treatment and was said to be in critical condition at the time.

Police later updated the man’s condition stating that despite the best efforts of officers and medical professionals, the man passed away from his injuries. He was later identified as 30-year-old Dusty Lawrence.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
