IMPD says a person was killed in an accident on the northwest side of Indianapolis Saturday afternoon.

Just after 1:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to West 56th Street and Eagle Creek Parkway, near the entrance to Eagle Creek Park.  Upon arriving, they discoverd a 34 year-old black male lying in the road.  He was taken to IU Methodist hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Officers say it appears the victim stopped his car and stepped out into the roadway for some reason.  He was then struck by another vehicle.  No one in the other car was injured.  The driver of the vehicle was being taken for a blood draw per IMPD policy but at this time is facing no charges.
