MARION, Ind. — Police have arrested a man for allegedly shooting an 18-year-old man to death late Friday night in Marion, according to the Marion Police Department.

Police received a call at 10:24 p.m. in reference to shots being fired and a person hurt in the 300 block of West 30th Street.

Officers found an 18-year-old man lying in a parking lot with at least one gunshot wound to the chest. Officers attempted to resuscitate the man until EMS personnel arrived.

The victim was taken to the Marion General Hospital by ambulance. Despite the best life-saving measures, medical personnel pronounced the man dead at 11:13 p.m.

Authorities have identified the victim as Enrique Alcorta.

Police used information gathered to identify a person of interest in connection to the shooting. The person of interest was found in the 3400 block of South Washington Street and was taken in for questioning.

After questioning, police arrested the person of interest, 35-year-old Jormar Xavier Worthy.

Worth is facing a preliminary charge of murder and has been booked into the Grant County Jail without bond.
