INDIANAPOLIS — Metro firefighters responded to a house fire on the city’s near west side early around 3:40 a.m. Monday morning.

Fire crews responded to the 300 block of South Holmes Avenue when multiple callers reported a house on fire.

When the first firefighters arrived, heavy fire could be seen coming from the home.

One person, identified as a man in his 50’s, suffered serious injuries and medics transported him to Wishard Hospital.

Two additional people living inside the home and two living inside a converted garage were not transported to the hospital.

It’s not known if smoke detectors were inside the home or working at the time of the fire.
