Man killed in shooting on Indy’s east side

INDIANAPOLIS — A man has been shot and killed on the east side of Indianapolis, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Around 11:25 p.m. Saturday, police were called to the 10000 block of John Jay Drive near the intersection of Mitthoeffer Rd. and East 30th St. on a report of a person shot.

Officers arrived to the scene to find a man with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. The man was pronounced dead on the scene. On Monday, the man was identified as 35-year-old Lamar Pittman.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. The Marion County County forensic services agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting potential evidence.

Police say they believe this to be the result of a domestic dispute.
