INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.— Two people are in custody following an attack on the east side Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to the area of 16th Street and Hawthorne Lane around 6:10 a.m. after a 911 call reported a bloodied man was in the middle of the street. A second 911 call came in from the 21st Street and Arlington area, where witnesses saw two men going through a white Mercedes, which police believe is connected to the first crime scene.

Police said one of the two people went into custody without resistance. The other ran away and led police on a chase that included jumping on rooftops. Both are now in custody and police are calling them persons of interest.

Initial reports indicated the victim was shot in the head, information that police received from first responders. However, police have since said there are no apparent gunshot or stab wounds on the victim. It is still unclear what type of wounds the victim sustained. He is in critical condition at Wishard Hospital.

Detectives urge anyone with information about this incident to contact homicide detectives by calling 317.327.3475 or Crime Stoppers of Indiana at 317.262.TIPS (8477).
