IMPD: Man shot & killed trying to rob Papa John’s on Indy’s northwest side

UPDATE: The Marion County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the deceased as Mason Wiseman, age 18.


INDIANAPOLIS — A man was shot and killed shortly after midnight Sunday while attempting to rob a Papa John’s restaurant on Indianapolis’ northwest side, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

911 operators received a call early Sunday from someone stating a person was shot inside the Papa John’s at 3899 block of Georgetown Road.

When officers arrived, they located an adult male suffering from at least one gun shot wound. Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Detectives believe the man was attempting to rob the store before he was shot. According to the police report, it was an employee who pulled the trigger.

Investigators say they believe this was an isolated incident and everyone involved is cooperating with police.
