Man killed by train on near east side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 19, 2015) — Police are investigating after a man was killed by a train on the near east side.

It happened around 4:30 a.m. Sunday on the tracks at Olney Street and Massachusetts Avenue. Police say the man was on foot, but they’re still trying to determine what happened before he was hit.

The CSX freight train was stopped on the tracks for about four hours while crews investigated. The name of the man has not been released.

This is the second fatal train incident in the past three days. A person was hit by a train near 46th Street and Franklin Road in Lawrence. It happened around 6 p-m on Friday. The victim’s name has not been released.
