INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A person was shot and seriously injured on the south side of Indianapolis Tuesday morning.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), the shooting happened in the 4000 block of Declaration Drive, near South Meridian Street and Southern Plaza Drive. Officers were called to the scene just before 8:30 a.m.

“Through the course of our investigation we’ve learned that it was a disturbance between three people and during the course of that disturbance the person shot sustained three gunshot wounds,” said IMPD Sgt. Grace Sibley.

The victim was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition, but police say the victim has been upgraded to “stable” condition.

The suspect left the scene before officers arrived. IMPD believes this was an isolated incident and said the shooting remains under investigation.
