A Plainfield, Ind. plant announced plans Tuesday to create dozens of new jobs.

Meritor, a global supplier of integrated systems, modules and components to the transportation and industrial sectors, plans invest approximately $1.4 million in its Plainfield facility, creating 82 new jobs during 2012 and 2013.  The announcement comes after the company already invested more than $2.7 million in new equipment at the Indiana plant, which remanufactures commercial truck components while preserving raw material.

“We believe this investment will help us improve efficiency while better serving our customers in today’s competitive landscape,” said Doug Wolma, general manager, Global Aftermarket Operations. “At the same time, this move will strengthen our global remanufacturing footprint.”

The available positions include quality technicians, manufacturing technicians, forklift operators, CNC machinists/welders, production operators, cycle counters and inventory record specialists.

The company will hold a job fair on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at the Hampton Inn at 2244 East Perry Road in Plainfield.  The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
