JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind.  –Two people were hospitalized following a car-motorcycle crash near Bargersville Sunday.

Around 12:45 p.m. emergency crews were called to the intersection of State Road 37 and Highway 144 on a report of a serious crash.

Investigators say the driver of a Chevy Malibu heading north on SR 37 ran a red light and struck a motorcyclist and his passenger who were heading east on Highway 144.

Witnesses at the scene said the motorcyclist and  his passenger were sent flying into the air before landing at the side of the road.

Both were wearing helmets but suffered multiple fractures, deep cuts and abrasions.

The 44-year-old female passenger was taken to Methodist hospital by Lifeline Helicopter.  The motorcyclist was taken by ambulance.

The driver of the passenger car involved was checked out at the scene and released.

The accident remains under investigation.
