Police chase ends with serious crash

UPDATE:  Police say they initially observed the vehicle speeding in the 1600 block of Deloss Street.  The officer conducted a routine BMV check and discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen.

The driver refused to comply with the officer’s attempt to stop the vehicle and fled.

The driver fled north on Interstate 65, exiting at Washington Street.  The vehicle continued north on Pine street and onto Ohio street where it dead-ends.

Police say the driver hit the curb and struck some train tracks.  The vehicle went out of control and rolled over.

As the vehicle came to rest, the driver reportedly climbed out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

An IMPD K-9 Officer and his police dog located the suspect hiding in a nearby shed.

A male and female passenger were located in the wrecked vehicle.  All three occupants were taken to Eskenazi Hospital in good condition.

The driver, 28-year-old Corey Horton of Indianapolis was arrested on preliminary charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, Resisting Law Enforcement and Vehicle Theft.

 

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 11, 2015) – Two people are in the hospital following a police chase that ended just after midnight on Saturday.

A vehicle fleeing from police flipped multiple times after driving over the railroad tracks in between east and north Pine St. The driver fled the vehicle, but the passenger had to be extricated by officials.

Police apprehended the driver shortly after. The driver was taken to Eskenazi in good condition. The female passenger was taken to  Eskenazi in serious condition.
