BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (November 17, 2015) – Bartholomew County authorities are searching for a prisoner after he escaped from an Edinburgh officer and fled into a Columbus neighborhood.

Dustin Evans, 26, was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of meth, possession of paraphernalia and resisting law enforcement. He also had a warrant out of Scott County.

Edinburgh officers transported Evans to the Columbus Jail, but officials at the jail thought he was on drugs. So instead he was transported to a hospital to be checked out. He was examined and released.

As an Edinburgh officer was transporting Evans back to the Columbus Jail, he complained of nausea. The officer pulled over to let him vomit, and then she put him back in the car. While she was getting back into the driver’s seat, he somehow opened the door and fled.

He escaped into a Columbus neighborhood near 8th Street and Central Place, and he is still on the loose.

Evans is wearing a red shirt and blue shorts, and he has tattoos on his neck shoulder. If you see him, please call 911 immediately.
