Police: Girl, 7, shot at northwest side apartment

INDIANAPOLIS (November 19, 2013) – Police say a 7-year-old girl was shot Tuesday evening at a northwest side apartment complex.

Indianapolis Metropolitan police said the incident happened around 7 p.m. in the 3900 block of Gateway Court near 38th Street and North High School Road.

Police said the 7-year-old had been shot in the arm. The girl is being treated at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health, and was last listed in serious but stable condition.

Officers found several people inside the residence where the girl was shot. They said preliminary investigation shows the shooting is “not believed to be a random occurrence.” No arrests have been made.
