Police investigate deadly shooting on the near northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan police are investigating a shooting on the near northeast side that left one person dead.

Police identified the victim as 19-year-old Mitchell Lane of Indianapolis.

Officers received a 911 call Thursday afternoon that brought them to 39th and Eastern Avenue. The caller reported that someone had been shot and wasn’t awake or breathing. Emergency medical crews said Lane died at the scene.

Detectives are looking for a white, four-door Chrysler 300 with tinted windows and a paper license plate in the back window.
