INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 27, 2015) — Police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened Thursday night on the east side — the seventh shooting incident to happen in the Circle City since Monday.

Police say one woman is dead and one man was taken here to Eskenazi Health in critical condition after a shooting that happened in the 2100 block of North Arlington Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

It’s the latest shooting in a string of violence happening throughout Indianapolis. Since Monday, there have been seven different shooting incidents. One of those incidents was the quadruple homicide on Harding Street that happened Tuesday on the Northwest side.

Thursday night, grieving family members and friends made a plea for answers at a vigil.  People prayed for peace and IMPD Chief Rick Hite was in attendance. He says the incident was not random and police have some ideas about who could be behind the murder.

“We have some ideas but the community knows and that's why we're here, and I’ll keep coming back here until we find the answers we're looking for,” Hite said.

Police are asking anyone with information about any of the violence that’s happened throughout the week to call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.

Ten Point Coalition is planning to host a “March for Peace” this Sunday afternoon starting at 1:30 p.m. at the Pilgrim Baptist Church on the Northwest side.
