Police investigate two overnight gas station robberies

INDIANAPOLIS (March 17, 2016) – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police are investigating two overnight gas station robberies on the northeast side of Indy.

Officers responded to a Speedway gas station in the 5900 block of East 71st St. around 2 a.m. after a robbery was reported. A witness there told police that an armed man demanded the clerk empty the register. According to the police report, the clerk handed the suspect money from the register, and the suspect fled.

About an hour later, police were called to another Speedway gas station in the 5400 block of East 65th St. for another robbery. When they arrived, police say a witness gave suspect description similar to the earlier robbery.

Both of these gas stations are located just off of Binford Boulevard.

Witnesses say the suspect was a light-skinned black man, around 19 to 20 years old and wearing dark clothing and a face mask.
