SPEEDWAY, Ind. — Police are investigating after a driver crashed into a business at the Meadowood strip mall at 30th and High School Road on the city’s west side

The incident was first reported just after 2:30 a.m. Friday. According to police, dispatchers received a call about a driver who had crashed into a building in the 3000 block of North High School road. A short time later, there was a second 911 call about a person shot in the same location.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gun shot wound. He was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition. Police believe he’s in his 30’s.

Police say it is still unclear if the man who was shot was the person driving the car before the crash. Officers say no one was in the building, which is for lease.
