Person shot while traveling on I-465 on northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Indiana State Police are investigating a person shot on the northwest side in the area of I-465 and 71st.

The call came in around 2 a.m. that a person had been shot while traveling northbound on I-465.  When police arrived they found the victim in the median where they had crashed after being shot in the leg by someone in at least one car, and possibly two, as all were traveling northbound on the interstate.

Another person was also at the crime scene, as police reported that that person had been called there by the victim. Police are unsure what that person’s involvement is to the situation.

Northbound I-465 was closed for a while at 71st, but the area has since reopened. Police do not believe this shooting was a random incident.
