MUNCIE, Ind.– Ball State police are investigating a sexual assault that was reported at one of the university’s residence halls.

The assault was reported Thursday night, police said. No arrests have been made.

No other details were immediately released.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Ball State University Police Department at 765-285-1111.

A public safety message sent to students included the following tips:

  • Trust your instincts. If you feel unsafe, get to a safe place and call for help.
  • Don’t feel obligated to do anything you don’t want to do. “I don’t want to” is always a good enough reason.
  • Download Ball State Step In. Speak Up app at http://www.bsu.edu/stepin
  • Make sure you have consent. Consent is a clear and freely given yes, not the absence of a no.
  • If you have been the victim of a sexual assault, tell someone.
