Police arrest woman in connection with deadly stabbing on Indy’s northeast side


INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has a woman in custody in connection with a deadly stabbing on Indy’s northeast side.

The IMPD said the stabbing happened in the 3900 block of North Shadeland Avenue shortly before 4 p.m. Friday. When officers arrived, they found a man with injuries consistent with a stabbing. The man was transported to a local hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced dead. On March 1, he was identified as 61-year-old Charles Moore.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene and began investigating. They believe the stabbing was domestic-related. They were able to identify 45-year-old Billie Mitchell as a suspect in the case.

On Saturday, the IMPD announced Mitchell’s arrest for her alleged involvement in the man’s death. They arrested her on preliminary charges of murder and invasion of privacy.
