INDIANAPOLIS (July 25, 2014) – Indianapolis Metropolitan police need help finding the car that hit and killed a teenager this week.

Nicholas King, 18, Indianapolis, died from the injuries he suffered during the hit-and-run crash early Tuesday morning.

Police were looking for a gray or silver 1996 Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable. The car may be a station wagon with front-end damage.

IMPD said King was riding his scooter on Westhaven Drive with a friend sitting on the backseat. He tried to cross High School Road and went into the path of a car going north. The car hit the scooter, ejecting both King and his passenger.

Witnesses said the driver was going at a high rate of speed and failed to stop after the crash.

King was found unresponsive and was taken to Eskenazi Hospital. He died from his injuries Thursday, police said.

King’s passenger was not seriously hurt. He was arrested in connection with an unrelated incident.

Anyone with information should call IMPD’s Hit-and-Run Office at (317) 327-6549.
