A Brown County man was arrested after authorities said he dated and had an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old girl.

Gregory Jones, Jr., 24, was arrested on charges of sexual misconduct, a Class C felony, and possession of child pornography, a Class D felony.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Department began their investigation into Jones after the girl’s father reported that he suspected the two were involved in sexual activity. According to court documents, the teen said she met Jones last summer and they began dating.  She stated her father did not approve, so she ended her relationship with Jones.  However, she said she later saw Jones at a wedding and the two began dating again.

The probable cause affidavit revealed Jones gave the girl a promise ring and said he wanted to marry her.  Additionally, Jones designed a tattoo that featured his and the teen’s birthdays.

The investigation also found approximately 2,000 text messages that were exchanged between Jones and the teen.  Some of those messages included naked photos, stated the affidavit.

A jury trial has been scheduled for July 17.
