A man forced his way into an eastside home early Sunday morning, kicking down two doors and beating another man with a brick.

According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 1700 block of South Butler Avenue.

The intruder kicked in the front door and then headed for the victim’s bedroom. According to the report, he kicked the bedroom door so hard that it ripped it off its hinges. The 55-year-old victim said the intruder screamed, “I’m going to kill you” before kicking and punching him. A scuffle ensued, and the victim fought the man off. The intruder left the house briefly before returning with a brick.

He swung it at the victim’s head, but the man blocked the blow with his left arm, breaking it. The intruder left to get more bricks, throwing two or three more at the victim before leaving for good.

The intruder was last seen running toward Emerson Avenue. He wore a cloth covering on his face and didn’t steal anything from the other man’s home.
