Police: Man used knife, towel to cover face during armed robbery

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is searching for a man who was armed with a knife during a convenience store robbery on the near west side.

Officers reported to the Village Pantry in the 3300 block of W. Michigan Street at approximately 7 p.m. on Jan. 13.  When officers arrived, the suspect had already fled the scene.

Witnesses told authorities the suspect came inside the store covering his face with a white towel and armed with a knife.  The witnesses said he demanded money and threatened the clerk.  The clerk opened the cash register and the suspect fled with an undetermined amount of cash.

No injuries were reported.
