ORLANDO, Fla. – The scene outside of Pulse nightclub continued to be hectic Monday, as officials worked to complete their investigation into the massive Orlando shooting.

FOX59’s Dan Spehler was there as Florida officials and the FBI held a press conference and he got the chance to speak with Florida’s attorney general, Pam Bondi.

“I’ve dealt with victims’ families my entire career but nothing like 50 plus victims’ families and especially all those in the hospital that’re fighting for their lives…” said Bondi.

But officials are also facing questions like, why wasn’t more done to keep an eye on the suspect if law enforcement had concerns about his potential ties to terror? And are there things law enforcement could have done differently?

The attorney general did not comment when asked those questions.

Many pedestrians also crowded the streets to show their support for those who have lost loved ones. People created signs, asking people to love and not hate and to pray for Orlando.

FOX59 spoke with a mother and daughter in town from Bloomington for a wrestling tournament. Tina and Sara Runyon were curious about the blood drive to see if they could help.

“I’d like to make a difference and hopefully save a life by donating all the blood I can,” said Sara Runyon. “It’s devastation. It’s something you never think you’d be close to. It’s scary. It’s almost to the point you’re afraid to go out in public or on vacation.”

Police in Florida tell us they will continue to stay here on the scene for quite some time as they go into the nightclub and complete their investigation.
