The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department released Wednesday the identity of the man killed on New Year’s.

Police said they were unable to locate family members of the victim, 59-year-old Larry Palmer.  The victim’s name and photo have been released in hopes of finding a relative.

Palmer was found lying face down in a home in the 3300 block of W. 9th Street on the city’s west side around 5:20 a.m.

According to a detective on the scene, it appeared the victim opened the back door and then was shot. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.
