UPDATE: Police find missing man safe and unharmed

UPDATE: Detectives with IMPD’s Missing Persons Unit are happy to announce that Douglas Dostatni has been located safe and unharmed and have re-united him with his family. Mr. Dostatni was located by officers near the intersection of Maryland Street and Capitol Avenue at around 11:00 p.m.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind (June 16, 2014)– Police are asking for assistance in locating a missing man.

Around 7:50 p.m. Monday, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers were dispatched to 25 Monument Circle on a report of a missing person. Family members stated that Douglas Dostatni, 58, went missing at around 6:50 p.m. He was last seen walking northbound from the Homewood Suites located at 211 South Meridian Street by hotel staff.

Dostatni is a white male, measuring 6’3” and weighing 185 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black White Sox hat, green and white striped shirt and dark pants. He is bald and wears thick glasses. It should be noted that the missing person is mentally handicapped and functions at the mental capacity of a 12-year-old.

Dostatni is from Hammond, Ind., and does not know anyone or anything locally.
