Police arrest man suspected of robbing, shooting clerk at Indianapolis smoke shop

UPDATE: IMPD arrested 18-year-old JaQuan Davis for robbing Obadiah’s Smoke Shop and shooting the store clerk. Davis was being held in the Marion County Jail on an unrelated criminal charge when detectives arrested him.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (September 9, 2015) – Indianapolis police are trying to identify the man in these surveillance images. He is wanted for an armed robbery on the city’s northwest side.

According to IMPD, on September 5 a black male entered Obadiah’s Smoke Shop at 3840 Georgetown Road around 4:22 p.m.

He asked the store clerk for change, but when the clerk opened the register the suspect walked behind the counter and pointed a handgun at the clerk’s head.

He then punched the clerk several times, and grabbed money from the register.

As the clerk fled towards the front door, the suspect fired a shot, striking the clerk in the left leg.

He was described as being 20-25 years of age, 5’10”-6’, wearing a teal Charlotte Hornets hat, blue shirt with gray shoulders, black sweatpants, and black shoes.

He was armed with a black handgun, and he was driving a green four-door Pontiac Bonneville with gold factory rims.
