LAWRENCE, IND. — A car sped off the road before flying into the air and crashing into a house early Monday morning, Lawrence Police said.

Lawrence Police said an officer clocked the vehicle traveling 89 miles per hour before initiating a traffic stop.

Before the officer could stop the speeding driver, police said the 29-year-old woman lost control of her vehicle, crashed into a fence and flew through the air into a tree.  The tree crashed into the house on Sparrowood as the car dropped into the backyard and then itself fell into the home.

The woman walked away relatively uninjured. Medics transported her to IU Health Methodist Hospital to be checked out and to initiate a blood draw to check her blood-alcohol content.  Her identity has not been released.

Police are investigating whether alcohol played a role in the crash.

Nobody was home when the crash occurred.
