MARION COUNTY, Ind. (Nov. 2, 2015) – Police are investigating four separate incidents where pedestrians were struck by cars. Two people died as a result of their injuries and two others remain in critical condition.

The coroner identified a person killed at the corner of East  32nd Street and Arlington as 52-year-old Patricia Wolfla. According to a police reporter she was struck by a car on Friday, October 30 and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver is cooperating with police.

“Drivers need to watch for pedestrians and pedestrians need to be aware of driver and driver behavior,” said Joan Cook with Health by Design.

Police are also investigating two separate incidents early Sunday morning that left two people critically injured.

The first accident happened shortly after 1 a.m. in the 5100 block of Georgetown Road.  Police said the driver is cooperating and alcohol is not believed to be a factor. The person struck is in critical condition.  The victim has not yet been identified.

The second accident happened around 2 a.m. on East 42nd Street between Post Road and Franklin Road. The victim is in critical condition. Police say it’s possible the victim may have been hit twice. The driver remained on scene. IMPD said alcohol could be a factor in this crash.

“Obviously being aware and obviously if they’re involved in an accident they have an obligation. The law says you must stay,” said Sgt. Kendale Adams, IMPD.

A 24-year-old Shelbyville woman was killed early Saturday as she walked along I-74 after her car broke down. The accident happened on Saturday around 4:30 a.m. in Shelby County at the 104 mile marker of I-74.  The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department later identified the victim as Brittney Shrader.
