INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A woman was set on fire during an argument early Thursday morning on the near north side, police said.

Indianapolis Metropolitan police were called to the 3000 block of North Kenwood Avenue just after midnight. Witnesses said a man and woman had been arguing, and it escalated with the man trying to use gasoline to set the house on fire.

While the attempt failed, the woman ended up with some gasoline on her and caught fire. Police at the scene said she was alert and conscious when she was taken to Eskenazi Hospital.

Police were looking for the man, who’d left the area before officers arrived.
