FISHERS, Ind. (Dec. 22, 2014) -- The community of Fishers swears in its first ever mayor Monday as it prepares to transition from a town to a city.

Scott Fadness, who has served as town manager for the past three years, beat out five other Republicans in a crowded May election for the mayoral position.

"Really what I want to focus on is the strategic growth, one that's well thought out, where a community considers infrastructure,  fiscal sustainability and just the overall vision that residents would like to see as we grow," Fadness told FOX59 News ahead of the election.

Indiana Speaker of the House Brian Bosma is expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony as a special guest.

The ceremony takes place at 5:30 p.m. at 7 Launch Way in Fishers.  The public is invited to attend.
