INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (December 14, 2015) — Post office workers around the city are getting ready for a rush of letters and packages on Monday, a day officials say is typically the busiest mailing day of the year.

Monday is also expected to be the busiest day online for USPS, as officials predict more than 7 million customers will be using

Overall, about 15.5 billion cards and packages will be delivered this holiday season and post office workers say about 600 million packages will be sent out between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve — which is a 10.5% increase from last year.

Workers will deliver packages seven days a week leading up to Christmas to make sure everything gets in on time.

“We’re delivering seven days a week because of this unprecedented volume,” said Mary Dando, spokesperson for the Postal Service in Indiana

“We want to let everyone know they might see carriers in their neighborhood more than once in a day,” Dando said.

Dando says next Monday, December 21, is expected to be the busiest delivery day (instead of mailing day) for all those packages and letters.

“The most important thing you have on your address is your zip code — don’t guess it,” she said.

The following local post offices will be open on Sunday, December 20th to accommodate for the demand:
