INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 11, 2014) — The community is invited to take part in the ceremonies honoring the life of Officer Perry Renn Friday. The funeral is open to the public at Bankers Life Fieldhouse at 11 a.m. A procession will follow and people can line the route to pay their respects.

The procession will head up Fall Creek to 30th St., past IMPD’s North District Headquaters where Ofc. Renn worked for years, then over on 38th St. to Capitol before entering Crown Hill Cemetery off of 34th St.

People are welcome to continue placing flowers and notes on Renn’s car outside the North District Headquarters off of 30th Street. When the funeral procession stops there, Renn will be officially called out of service over the radio.

Friday morning people stopped by the growing memorial at Ofc. Renn’s squad car. Kennedy Lyman, a young girl, dropped off a stuffed animal.

“Because I felt bad that he had to risk his life for being an officer,” she said.
“She’s been watching on the news all week long and I constantly tell then about safety and how officers are here to protect and serve us. She always says she wants to be a police officer when she gets older, ” said Kennedy’s mother Latasha Keith.

The procession is expected to begin around 2 p.m., immediately following the funeral service.
