INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – If you are looking for a way to help the victims of Wednesday severe weather, the Red Cross has an opportunity for you.

Fast track volunteer training sessions are being held for those willing to give of their time. The training takes about 3 hours and after that new volunteers will be deployed to Kokomo and other areas hit by Wednesday’s storms.

Volunteer opportunities are flexible with everyone’s schedule. The Red Cross says there is a critical need for volunteers after this week’s severe storm.

“Definitely right now there’s a critical need for volunteers. The Red Cross is stretched thin. We’ve got operations going on in Louisiana which is a major disaster operation, wild fires in California, compounded by this incident,” said Red Cross of Indiana’s Britton Riley.

Saturday’s Volunteer Training session times:

  • 10:30 a.m.
  • 1:30 p.m.
  • 4:30 p.m.
  • 7:30 p.m.

The training takes place at the American Red Cross of Indiana Regional HQ, located at 1510 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202. Their phone number is 317-684-1441.

Walk-ins are welcome.
