PENDLETON (Sept. 17, 2014) – Authorities made a positive identification on remains found in Pendleton earlier this month.

The Madison County coroner said dental records confirmed the man’s identity as Jerry Elliott, 48, Greenfield.

On Sept. 6, a man who was fishing with his two sons came across human remains at a pond in the area of I-69 and Indiana 38 near Pendleton. Investigators said the remains were badly decomposed.

The coroner said Elliott likely died 10 days to two weeks before his body was found. Investigators said there were no outward signs of trauma.
